Severn Elite 6th-Grade Boys Win AAU DII National Championship

Posted
The 2014 AAU season has come to a close, and what an awesome way to close out the season! Following up on last year (2013) 5th-grade team’s amazing seventh-place finish at DII Nationals, this year’s 6th-grade team completed the mission and brought back the 2014 AAU DII National Championship trophy to Maryland.

It was an awe-inspiring performance watching our young men play with such self-confidence and faith in each other, regardless of the opponent or level of competition.  The team went undefeated in pool and bracket play over the final days of July, which ultimately culminated in August 1’s 50-27 victory in the championship game over Indiana’s George Hill Rising stars (G3IE -2020).

Equally notable to the team’s performance on the court was the remarkable sportsmanship and respect shown to their opponents and the officials throughout the tournament. This team not only played well, they displayed the true character of champions, which earned them the respect of the officials and opponents alike. Most of all, they represented themselves, family, and the entire Severn Elite organization well, and for that we are all extremely proud of you!

Join us in congratulating the 2014 AAU DII National Champions: Brandon, Moe, Cory, Dionte, Isaiah, Elijah and Josh. To us, your friends, family and teammates, you were already champions, but now the whole world knows! You are now, and always will be champions and no one can ever take that away!

Also, Congratulations to Coach Brown, Coach Keith, and Coach Vershaun! You were the architects behind this year’s amazing run.  What you have achieved will become your legacy in the annals of Severn Elite. Can’t wait to see what you have in store for next year…. the bar has just been raised! Thanks to all who donated to our boys and to wished them well with words of encouragement.
