On May 13 the School of the Incarnation girls lacrosse A team defeated Friends School of Baltimore, 12-6, to finish the season undefeated at 9-0.
Comprised of sixth-, seventh- and eighth-graders, the School of the Incarnation Lady Knights posted wins over Severn, Indian Creek, Rockbridge Academy, Annapolis Area Christian School, Friends, Notre Dame Prep and Calverton, and outscored opponents 122-47 in sweeping the season.
The members of the team in the graduating eighth-grade class who will move on to various area high schools next season are a combined 26-2 in three seasons playing for School of the Incarnation’s A team.
Head coach Mark Piccirilli praised the work ethic and development of the girls through the team’s successful season and the Lady Knights’ stellar middle school interscholastic career.
“I’ve had the pleasure of coaching these young ladies over the past three years and have watched them develop their individual skills over that time,” said Piccirilli. “It’s gratifying to see the hard work they put forth and the direct results on the field. They will each contribute significantly to their high school programs over the next few years, and I look forward to continuing to watch their progress as teammates and friends. They are a special group of players who listened and executed. I’ll certainly miss them.”
