Premier Health and Performance International Racing—an Annapolis-based team of runners, cyclists, swimmers and triathletes sponsored by Spark Running and Bike Doctor Arnold—recently traveled to Wilmington, North Carolina to compete in the Beach to the Battleship triathlon.
The Beach to the Battleship triathlons are the IronMan and half-IronMan distances, so the athletes competed on courses of 70.3 or 140.6 miles. Of the 11 local athletes who competed, six achieved podium finishes and all 11 achieved personal bests:
Scott Padgett - full IronMan in 9:33, fifth overall and first-ever amateur podium, personal best.
Brendan Wills - full IronMan in 10:19, third in age group podium, personal best.
Rachel Varn - half IronMan in 5:00, third overall female podium, personal best.
Jesse Buppert - half IronMan in 4:38, first age group podium, personal best.
Mark Facciani - half IronMan in 4:39, second masters podium, personal best.
Amanda Rasmussen - half IronMan in 5:08n first age group podium, personal best.
Michelle Cranford - half IronMan in 6:04, personal best.
