The Crofton Adrenaline Junior A girls lacrosse team won the county championship by beating a strong Kent Island team, 9-6, at Northeast High School on May 18.
The closely contested battle pitted two very good teams deserving of a championship opportunity. Top-seeded Crofton advanced to the game by beating the Bucs, 11-4, in the semifinals, while Kent Island defeated Broadneck to reach the final.
The Adrenaline had a balanced scoring attack in the victory, with contributions from Madeline Cloyd, Olivia Piccirilli, Jessie Grusholt, Alex Schepers, Sarah Jordan, Payton Kenney, Tiffany Lee, Colleen Wagner, Stephanie Peters and Jesse Pate. Defensively, Crofton was led by the clutch goaltending of Hanna Ramsey (eight saves) and a strong team defensive effort from Mo Skinner, Katie Sheehan, Mackenzie Cramer, Stephanie Heffron and Riley Rafterry-Lee. The Crofton girls, who will move on to various county high schools next fall, finished their final junior season 10-1 overall.
