Reservation for 200? On Thursday, March 13, the Greater Crofton Chamber of Commerce (GCCC) will host its third-annual Taste of Crofton from 5:30-7:30pm at the Crofton Country Club, inviting local residents to sample the menus of close to 20 greater Crofton area restaurants and catch up with friends new and old.

Three years ago, GCCC Executive Director Judy Wilson initiated the delicious event to spotlight new and long-established local eateries and give community members the opportunity to sample all they had to offer in one convenient location. “The tag we use with big events like this is ‘connect, reconnect and stay connected.’ It’s a way for chamber members to connect and reconnect with restaurants they haven’t visited in a while,” Wilson expounded. “We are in such a wonderful area where there’s so many restaurants to choose from … and [Taste of Crofton] provides another opportunity for them to showcase what they have to offer.”

Attendees can look forward to quelling their hunger with dishes from The Blue Dolphin Seafood Bar & Grill, Bob Evans, Bonefish Grill, Chick-fil-A, Grotto Pizza, Kodo Hibachi Sushi Lounge, Land & Sea Catering, Roundz Gourmet Market & Catering, Wegmans and others. Wilson anticipates that as the date draws nearer, more of West County’s favorite eateries will take advantage of the not-to-be-missed event.

Last year, J. King’s Steak & Seafood Restaurant in nearby Gambrills dished up their renowned Maryland crab soup, and catering manager Jessica Bobick suspects they’ll serve the signature stew again this year. “We love the event. It’s nice to go out in the community and meet other people who are there and the different vendors,” she said. “It’s a very good community feel.”

In addition to hosting Taste of Crofton, the town’s country club will have its culinary best on display as well. General Manager Heather Levow stated the club looks forward to the event each year as an opportunity to expose what they offer in the way of banquets, catering, golf tournaments and more.

To complement its scrumptious fare, the tasting will offer a cash bar and live music provided by a professional instructor from Crofton’s S&S Music. Tickets to the signature chamber event are $15 for members and $25 for nonmembers, and can be reserved by going to www.croftonchamber.com.

Next on the Greater Crofton Chamber’s calendar is one of its signature community events, the Festival on the Green. The springtime celebration, slated for April 26 from 10:00am-4:00pm, will feature arts and crafts displays, a mini business expo, music and activities for children. Crafters and businesses interested in participating can register at www.croftonchamber.com.
