Ballet Theatre of Maryland (BTM), Maryland’s premier professional ballet company, is excited to reveal an exquisite array of performances for its upcoming 2015-2016 season.

First on the roster is the company’s season opening at Maryland Hall’s newly renovated theater. BTM will bring back the audience favorite “Excalibur” from October 23 through 25. Wizardry, magic, swordfights, warrior knights, princesses, romance and the forces of dark versus the forces of light will all fuse with the vivid language of dance in this powerful retelling of the King Arthur legend. Dianna Cuatto, artistic director of BTM, won an Individual Artist Award for her choreography depicting Arthur’s rise and fall, from his birth to the fall of Camelot. And it will be performed live to the award-winning original music of composer Maggie Sansone.

Next, BTM invites audiences to attend the most famous holiday party of all time, “The Nutcracker.” Theatergoers will watch as Clara rescues her beloved Nutcracker from the Rat Queen’s spell, and they’ll share in her enchanted adventure through the Land of the Snowflakes to the Kingdom of Sweets, where she will receive the magical wand that can make all of her dreams come true. Performances are slated for December 12, 13, 19 and 20, and audiences of the Sunday matinees will be invited to the enormously popular Sugar Plum Fairy parties before the performance.

From February 19 through 21, BTM will unveil a spectacular, breathtaking new production of “Sleeping Beauty” set to Tchaikovsky’s magnificent score. When an enchanted kingdom and fair princess fall prey to the ultimate mistress of evil, the fate of all rests in the hands of a small band of fairies and the courage of a young prince. Join forces with this spirited group as they battle the evil witch and her dragon to set the sleeping beauty and her kingdom free. From dynamic action to the poetic beauty of dance to the magical power of love, “Sleeping Beauty” has something to delight everyone.

BTM’s final offering promises new works, new compositions and more. “Innovations 2015-2016” will run April 15 through 17, and audiences will continue to be amazed at the depth and versatility of BTM’s dancers as they perform innovative new works from the classical to the contemporary to modern to jazz-based works as the classical dance form continues to evolve. New works by Ryan Lucas and others will be featured.

For tickets to any of the upcoming BTM productions, visit or call 410-280-5640.
